Option and Nortel demonstrate HSDPA services with datacards at CTIA Wireless

Leuven – Belgium, March 14 2005 – Option N.V. (Euronext: OPTI, OPIN.BR), the wireless technology company, today announced its data card will be demonstrated at CTIA Wireless with Nortel (14 – 16 March 2005, New Orleans).

The two companies will conduct demonstrations on the Nortel booth (Hall C, booth #3125). The demonstrations will feature business and consumer applications using Nortel infrastructure equipment. They will include video on demand with high-quality movie trailers, high speed download of music and e-mail with attachments at speeds up to 1.5 megabits per second.

Option’s HSDPA data card will be commercially available later this year. The companies are working with a number of leading global operators on HSDPA trials and deployments in 2005.

High Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) is a migration technology for the UMTS wireless standard used by leading mobile network operators across Europe, Japan and North America to deliver voice and data services. HSDPA boosts network capacity to carry up to three times as much data traffic and up to twice as many wireless users per cell site compared to today’s UMTS networks. By making more efficient use of the existing network and boosting throughput, HSDPA significantly reduces operating costs while delivering a better end user experience. As such HSDPA will enable faster mobile services like high-resolution interactive gaming, multimedia music tracks, DVD-quality film and video etc.
