AT&T Introduces New 4G Modules in the Mobile Broadband Accelerator Program

Successful 3G Access Program Extended to Include Latest Technology from Option, Sierra Wireless and Telit

DALLAS, Dec. 14, 2011 — AT&T* leadership in Mobile Broadband and 4G technology adoption, today is demonstrated through an expanding lineup of wireless modules for advanced Connected Devices. The extended and renamed program includes faster network technology, additional form factors and equipment providers, offering next generation consumer electronics, embedded computing and machine-to-machine device makers access to a more efficient path to production.

Working with leading equipment makers Sierra Wireless, Telit, and Option, AT&T will expand the program to include HSPA+ and LTE technology in addition to modules designed for automotive and industrial applications. Sierra Wireless will introduce several new modules, including the SL8080 and SL8090, designed for high-volume production lines, and the MC7700, the first 4G LTE module in the Mobile Broadband Accelerator Program. Two new 4G HSPA+ modules, including the GTM601 LGA module, from Option and four new modules from Telit will be designed for consumer, automotive and industrial applications. AT&T is expected to certify a total of 24 mobile broadband modules for the Mobile Broadband Accelerator Program.

“We are updating the name and substance of our successful 3G Access Program to include the latest 4G technology,” said Glenn Lurie, president of emerging device, resale and partnerships, AT&T. “Our goal is to help companies get to market as affordably and quickly as possible, by providing cost efficient alternatives without sacrificing technology advances.”

Consumers and business customers rely on AT&T’s wireless network to access a range of new, innovative solutions to make their lives and workplaces more efficient and productive.
