LEUVEN, Belgium – June 7, 2007 – Option (Euronext: OPTI; OTC: OPNVY), the wireless technology company, announced today the acquisition of a team of engineers and laboratory facilities from BenQ Mobile GmbH & Co, the former Siemens AG mobile devices business.
Located in Kamp-Lintfort near Düsseldorf, Germany - a renowned centre for mobile telecommunications companies - the team of 50 highly qualified engineers adds more than 750 man-years of wireless experience and expertise to Option’s global engineering capability.
Reporting to, and collaborating closely with Option’s HQ engineering group in Leuven, the multi-disciplinary Kamp-Lintfort team, will focus on the development of embedded broadband cellular connectivity solutions for mobile internet devices – a new category of devices that is emerging between the PDA and laptop PC product categories that we know today. Existing engineering resources at Option’s Leuven HQ will concentrate on extending the company’s leadership in wireless data cards, USB devices, modules for laptops and wireless routers.
“With skilled engineers in short supply, this opportunity to acquire an established, highly skilled engineering team and fully-equipped facility was too good to miss.” said Jan Callewaert, Option’s CEO. “Our new team in Germany is ready to make an immediate impact on our drive into mobile internet devices and other new product lines for 2008.”
Acquisition of state-of-the-art facilities in Kamp-Lintfort, including fully equipped laboratories, an advanced Electro-Magnetic Compatibility test chamber and office space, will require a one-off investment of €4 million. Total impact on operating expenses for 2007, mainly related to R&D, will be €3 million.

Data cards provided by Option make debut at Brussels 20 KM
LEUVEN, Belgium – May 24, 2007 - Option (Euronext: OPTI; OTC: OPNVY), the wireless technology company, today announced that the Belgian Red Cross in Brussels will adopt Option wireless data cards to provide secure and real-time communication between first aid posts at major public events and the Red Cross headquarters in Brussels. This new system will be deployed for the first time at the Brussels 20km Run on May 27 to allow the Red Cross crisis coordination centre to monitor events at first aid posts throughout the Belgian capital as they occur. The technique will also be used at the Belgian soccer cup final between FC Bruges and Standard Liege and future large-scale pop concerts at the King Baudouin Stadium.
Accurate, fast & reliable emergency information
Accurate information and fast communication are vital in any public safety situation. Communication between Red Cross first aid posts, its coordination centre and hospitals used to be via two-way radios. However, the severe interference and even breakdown regularly experienced in dense city environments often delayed the availability of precise casualty numbers and situation reports. Thanks to several laptop computers fitted with Option GlobeTrotterTM 3G EDGE wireless broadband data cards, emergency workers at first aid posts will be able to easily collect and transmit casualty identification data. Computers will send up-to-date information and statistics at regular intervals via ftp. This data is then collated and processed at the Red Cross HQ where emergency coordinators will evaluate casualty numbers and initiate evacuation procedures for emergency cases.
Sunday 27 May debut at the Brussels 20 km Run
The urgent need for precise information is clearly illustrated by last year’s remarkable experience at the Brussels 20km Run where the 11 Red Cross first aid posts along the 20km route through the European capital provided medical assistance to a new patient every 37 seconds for five hours. With such a high rate of first aid interventions, effective communication and coordination are critical to the overall safety of an event that attracts 25,000 runners.
Belgian Red Cross in Brussels first aid emergency coordinator Raphaël Schmidt commented: “Last year, our emergency workers had to work in improvised conditions where modern telecommunications technology was not always available. Thanks to Option’s wireless broadband data cards, this now belongs to the past. The Red Cross will be able to further improve the speed and quality of medical assistance wherever it is needed.”Red Cross first aides will publish a review of their experiences with Option wireless technology during the Brussels 20 km run in next month’s Red Cross magazine.

Swisscom Mobile, Pannon Hungary and Partner Communications Israel expand range of mobile data solutions
LEUVEN, Belgium – April 20, 2007 - Option (Euronext: OPTI; OTC: OPNVY), the wireless technology company, today reported growing demand for its EXPRESS 7.2 data card and ICON 7.2 USB wireless modems from leading mobile operators in Switzerland, Hungary and Israel.
GlobeTrotter EXPRESS 7.2 data cards pack Option’s advanced data communication capabilities into the slim-line, future-proof, ExpressCard form factor compatible with the 34mm expansion slots increasingly found on the latest laptops. The GlobeSurfer® ICON 7.2 wireless modem delivers DSL-like performance in a compact device that can plug directly into the USB port of any laptop or desktop PC. Its sleek and stylish design will appeal to the growing consumer market for flexible wireless data solutions.
Swisscom Mobile, a long-established Option partner is adding Option’s EXPRESS card to its award-winning Mobile Unlimited product portfolio. At the same time, Switzerland’s innovative market leader is doubling the speed of its entire HSDPA network, which already serves 40 per cent of the Swiss population, to 3.6 Mbps.
Early April, Hungarian operator Pannon launched HSDPA wireless broadband services targeting both mobile users and residential customers. Part of the Telenor group, Pannon holds a 34% of the Hungarian market. Its HSDPA service, which offers transmission rates between 1.8 and 3.6 Mbps, is currently available to 33% of the population in Budapest and 43 other towns. The GlobeTrotter EXPRESS 7.2 is being offered to laptop users while desktop users can avoid fixed-line broadband provisioning delays that are typically measured in weeks by choosing the GlobeSurfer® ICON 7.2.
Partner Communications Company Ltd (NASDAQ & Tel Aviv Stock Exchange: PTNR), operating the Orange network in Israel, is also offering the GlobeSurfer® ICON 7.2 as an easy-to-install cellular broadband service. Part of Hutchison Telecom International, Partner is a leading Israeli mobile communications operator with a market share of approximately 32% at the end of 2006. Partner is implementing HSDPA to offer fast download speeds up to 3.6 Mbps throughout most of the urban centres in the country.
Jan Callewaert, CEO at Option: “The migration of laptop manufacturers to the ExpressCard form-factor and the adoption of wireless USB modems as an alternative to DSL are important trends to monitor in 2007. These latest operator agreements demonstrate that Option’s product portfolio is well placed to satisfy any changes in consumer demand.”

LEUVEN, Belgium – April 2, 2007 - Option (Euronext: OPTI; OTC: OPNVY), the wireless technology company, today announced that Rogers Wireless will be offering its Canadian mobile customers the world’s fastest cellular connection following the selection of Option’s GlobeTrotter GT MAX “7.2 Ready” HSDPA data card. As well as its cutting-edge performance, Option’s GT MAX series features the unique integrated flip-out antenna: for ease and convenience, the antenna is simply retracted for briefcase or carry bag transport without the need to remove the wireless data card from the laptop. Canadian users are in for a great experience both in speed and user friendliness.
Sold under the GT MAX “7.2 Ready” brand, the data card delivers tri-band HSDPA at data speeds up to 3.6 Mbps. Option’s broadband wireless data card is already compatible with mobile network infrastructure equipment capable of supporting higher HSDPA data rates of up to 7.2 Mbps. Backward compatibility ensures HSDPA connections at lower data rates of 3.6 Mbps and 1.8 Mbps. The wireless data card also has inherent support for 3G operation at 384 kbps as well as quad-band EDGE and GPRS. The GT MAX’s support for this low frequency band and the built-in Advanced Radio Technology further enhances indoor connectivity.
Rogers Wireless is the largest Canadian wireless communications service provider, serving nearly 6.8 million wireless voice and data subscribers. Rogers Wireless is the only wireless service provider in Canada operating on the world standard GSM/GPRS/EDGE and HSDPA technology platform with coverage to approximately 94% of Canada's population. Moreover, the data card will also be available to the more than 1.3 million Fido subscribers in Canada. Fido has been a subsidiary of Rogers Wireless Inc. since November 2004.
Jan Callewaert, CEO Option commented: “With Rogers Wireless we are expanding our global footprint to the Canadian territory. We are very pleased that they have selected our GT MAX data card as their flagship product. I am looking forward to a long term relationship with Rogers.”
Option’s unique Advanced Radio Technology (ART) internal architecture differentiates the GlobeTrotter GT MAX “7.2 Ready” from other HSDPA devices by introducing Receive Diversity and Receive Equalization into the product design, delivering important performance benefits to users and operators.
Receive Diversity exploits dual antenna and receive chains to improve signal reception and reduce the impact of spatial variations in signal strength. Receive Equalization, on the other hand, improves immunity to interference of the radio signal. In usage scenarios tested during GT MAX field trials, ART improved average throughput speeds up to 50% compared with non-ART devices giving greater connection stability and higher data throughput vastly improving the overall user experience. For operators, mobile receive diversity increases network capacity by up to a factor of two while reducing base station power requirements.

New step for Option and Telenet in roll-out of “always on” products
LEUVEN, Belgium – March 26 2007 - Telenet Solutions is today launching the Telenet Mobile Data Card. This data card solution was developed in co-operation with Option (Euronext: OPTI; OTC: OPNVY) and provides wireless access to the Telenet mobile data network for LAN, Hotspot and mobile networks.
Seamless transfer
The Telenet Mobile Data Card is the first mobile data card in the European Union that guarantees a seamless transfer from a Telenet Hotspot network to the Telenet MVNO (Data) network and vice versa without the session being interrupted.
This unique feature is thanks to the software that Option supplies under the name of GlobeTrotter Unlimited Connection and that has been further refined and adapted for Telenet Solutions. Using this special Unlimited Connection software, the card always uses the best available access technology (Telenet Hotspot, HDSPA, UMTS, Edge, GPRS) at every location in Belgium and Telenet Hotspot locations in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. A mobile IP agent on the Telenet network manages the IP addresses and ensures that the end user always has a connection with the Internet via the best available access technology.
The software on the card allows it to be configured in such a way that it can also detect the Telenet wireless installation in the office or at home and transfer seamlessly to this Internet connection.
“We are extremely pleased to see that a really innovative solution for the mobile user can be realised as a first within the European Union – in Belgium, and by 2 Flemish companies. Telenet, as an MVNO and Hotspot operator, clearly sees the added value of our Unlimited Connection solution for mobile users. In the mobile world of tomorrow, getting and maintaining access anytime, anywhere, will be increasingly important.”
“We are pleased that Option has co-operated with us in creating tailor-made software for this Telenet Solutions product. With the seamless transfer between different networks, we are relieving the frustrations of the users, and the solution is unique in the market at the moment. We are therefore proud that two Flemish companies have been able to develop this together”, says Hugo Lemmens, Executive Vice President of Telenet Solutions. At the same time, Lemmens adds that Telenet Solutions is aiming this product mainly at professionals, the logistics and the retail sectors, as well as at Belgian SMEs who make much use of representatives on the road.

GTM478 module incorporated in eMobile’s next generation broadband terminal "EM ONE"
Leuven, BELGIUM – February 19, 2007 – Option (Euronext: OPTI; OTC: OPNVY), the leading wireless technology company, today announced that it is supplying eMobile Japan with both the new GTM478 embedded wireless module and the GlobeTrotter EXPRESS 7.2. Both products uniquely operate the 1.7 GHz frequency band. The wireless module is incorporated in the "EM ONE", the next-generation mobile broadband device, designed to deliver a high-speed, always-on broadband environment as an alternative to a personal computer. The "EM ONE" is manufactured by Sharp, Japan’s leading vendor in mobile device development. The products were unveiled today by eMobile’s Chairman and CEO Sachio Semmoto at the press conference in Tokyo announcing the launch of the HSDPA Mobile Data Service "EM Mobile Broadband" from March 31 2007. Also presenting at eMobile’s press conference were Sharp (OSE and TSE: 6753), Qualcomm (Nasdaq: QCOM) and Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT).
"EM ONE" supports eMobile’s HSDPA communications service with a maximum downlink speed of 3.6Mbps. "EM ONE" adopts Japan's first W-VGA (800 X 480 dot) under Windows Mobile 5.0 environment, and is also equipped with the industry’s first 4.1 inch high definition liquid crystal large screen. Such a screen enables the user to view PC websites without horizontal scrolling. Furthermore, "EM ONE" is equipped with the same keyboard layout as a PCs yet at just 18.9 mm thick, the device is one of the thinnest mobile terminals with a QWERTY keyboard in Japan.
“I am honoured that eMobile has selected Option as its partner for both for our new compact wireless module embedded in the "EM ONE" and our GlobeTrotter EXPRESS 7.2 data card. eMobile is a pioneer of wireless broadband multimedia services and devices that go beyond the mobile phone and has an exciting vision for the future,” said Jan Callewaert, CEO of Option. “Our partnership with eMobile and Sharp recognises Option’s world class wireless technology expertise and relentless customer focus.”
The new GTM478 is a compact module with a board-to-board connector making it the ideal module for embedding into small mobile devices such as PDA’s and mobile multimedia devices. It incorporates HSDPA, UMTS and EDGE, GPRS and GSM. It is designed to achieve peak HSDPA download speeds of 7.2 Mbps while backward compatibility ensures HSDPA connections can also be made at lower data rates of 3.6 Mbps and 1.8 Mbps with upload speeds to 384 Kbps. The GTM478 also supports both A-GPS and S-GPS.
The GlobeTrotter EXPRESS 7.2 Express Card, based on he PCI-standard, delivers true wireless broadband performance, while dual-antennae Advanced Receiver Technology sustains faster and more stable connections over wider coverage areas. For launches before availability of HSDPA 7.2 Mbps networks, the product can be provided with HSDPA 3.6Mbps and boosted to 7.2 Mbps via a simple firmware upgrade. In all cases backward compatibility ensures HSDPA connections at lower data rates of 3.6 Mbps and 1.8 Mbps. In spite of its advanced performance, the GlobeTrotter EXPRESS 7.2 is a truly “plug and play” device. When the EXPRESS 7.2 is inserted into the Express Card slot of a laptop, Option’s patented Zero CD® technology automatically loads all necessary software and drivers from the data card itself: no software needs to be installed from a CD-ROM.

TAIPEI, Taiwan – June 7 2007 – Option N.V. (Euronext: OPTI; OTC: OPNVY), the wireless technology company, today announced a collaboration with Intel Corporation (NASDAQ: INTC) to optimize WWAN modules for Mobile Internet Devices (MIDs) based on Intel’s low power technologies.
Mobile Internet Devices (MIDs) are a new category of truly mobile consumer devices that deliver full Internet experience on the go. These MIDs rely on ubiquitous wireless connectivity and anytime internet access to deliver range of usages around communication, entertainment and information.
Option will deliver WWAN modules that meet the power, size and performance characteristics needed for Mobile Internet Devices in 2008. Two modules are currently in development and will be optimized for MIDs based on Intel low power processors and chipsets.
