(EURONEXT Brussels: OPTI; OTC: OPNVY), the wireless technology company, today announced that its embedded wireless modules and Linux-based connection management software have been selected by Compal Electronics (Taiwan: 2324.tw) to provide HSPA 3G connectivity to a new range of Mobile Internet Devices (MIDs). The Compal Group is the world’s second largest original device manufacturer (ODM) - a specialist manufacturer of products on behalf of major brands. The company has a market capitalization of 4 billion US dollar.

Independent analysts forecast that demand for always-connected Mobile Internet Devices could reach 90 million units a year by 2012.
The first Compal product is an MID with integrated multimedia player and retractable keyboard which offers anywhere, anytime access to the internet and popular web-based services such as email, instant messaging and social networks. The device incorporates GPS to enable it to take advantage of innovative location based services and applications. The new MID also includes GlobeTrotter Connect for Linux: connection management software specially developed by Option for Mobile Internet Devices based on the Intel® Centrino® Atom™ processor technology. Option is currently working with Compal to secure certification and operator validation for this device in multiple markets.
Based on Option’s ultra-compact GTM501 wireless module, a Developers Kit has been assembled to enable ODMs to develop 3G connectivity solutions for their mobile internet devices and other portable consumer electronic devices. The Developers Kit is already shipping to ODMs and OEMs. With the GTM501, the GlobeTrotter Connect for Linux and the Developers Kit, Option clearly demonstrates that it is ready to contribute to the success of the new MID category.

Leuven, Belgium – July 11, 2008 – Option N.V. (Euronext: OPTI; OTC: OPNVY), the wireless technology company, today announced that although the Company had its highest ever quarterly volume of units shipped, pre-audited preliminary revenues for the second quarter of fiscal year 2008 will be in the range EUR 60-62 million. These revenues combined with EUR 77 million for the first quarter 2008 will generate half year revenue in the range of EUR 137-139 million which is approximately 9% less than the first half year 2007. As a result, the company expects EBIT for the first six months to be negative. The Company had not previously provided guidance for the quarter or the first half of the year.
During the quarter a number of factors affected the indicated revenue and EBIT. The two key issues were continuing price pressure from Asian competitors in Europe and a reduction in sales to two customers versus their preliminary forecasts to the Company.
Option had stated that the second quarter of 2008 would prove difficult as it continued to transition its organization for its rapidly changing market and had to rely on existing products. The company continues to push aggressively through this period of transition identifying cost savings and employing efficiencies to position it for sustainable and profitable growth in 2009.
Option believes that it is well positioned for the second half of the year due to:
-tOption’s balance sheet at the close of Q2 remained strong with more than EUR 30 million in cash, no debt and improved accounts receivable levels
-tA major contract with a MID device manufacturer is on schedule for a Q3 announcement, confirming the value of the investment Option continues to make in this market
-tThe developments with Qualcomm and Intel on embedded modules for the next generation of devices continue to progress well
-tThe company continues to invest into new and ongoing development projects, including software solutions for Linux users for laptops and MID devices, that create differentiation from competitors
-tA number of new products to be launched in Q3 are on schedule and should provide material revenue and higher ASPs in Q4 2008

(Euronext: OPTI; OTC: OPNVY), specialist in draadloze communicatie, heeft vandaag bekendgemaakt dat – alhoewel het bedrijf op kwartaalbasis een record aantal leveringen van producten realiseerde – de voorlopige, niet-geauditeerde omzet voor het tweede kwartaal 2008 tussen 60 en 62 miljoen euro zal liggen. Samen met de 77 miljoen euro uit het eerste kwartaal 2008 komt dit neer op een omzet over het eerste halfjaar tussen de 137 en 139 miljoen euro, wat ongeveer 9 % lager is dan in het eerste halfjaar van 2007. Het bedrijf verwacht dat hierdoor de EBIT over de eerste zes maanden negatief wordt. Voor dit kwartaal en voor het eerste halfjaar waren eerder geen vooruitzichten bekendgemaakt.
Tijdens dit kwartaal beïnvloedden een aantal factoren de omzet en EBIT. De twee belangrijkste elementen waren de aanhoudende prijsdruk van Aziatische concurrenten op de Europese markt en lagere verkoopcijfers bij twee klanten in vergelijking tot de vooruitzichten die ze aan Option gaven.
Option stelde eerder dat 2008 een moeilijk jaar zou worden omdat het bezig is haar organisatie om te vormen in lijn met de snel evoluerende markt en moest rekenen op bestaande producten. Het bedrijf gaat met de nodige vastberadenheid door deze transitieperiode door verdere kostenbesparingen te identificeren en een verhoogde efficiëntie binnen de organisatie na te streven, om zich zo op te maken voor aanhoudende en winstgevende groei in 2009.
Option gelooft dat het bedrijf sterk staat voor het tweede halfjaar omwille van volgende factoren:
- Aan het einde van het tweede kwartaal blijft de balans sterk, met ruim 30 miljoen euro cash, geen schulden en verbeterde niveaus van de handelsvorderingen
- Een belangrijk contract met een producent van MID’s (Mobile Internet Devices) zit op schema om aangekondigd te worden in het derde kwartaal. Dit bevestigt de waarde van de investeringen die Option in deze markt aan het doen is
-Ontwikkelingen met Qualcomm en Intel voor nieuwe inbouwmodules voor de volgende generatie van producten verlopen vlot
- Het bedrijf blijft investeren in nieuwe en lopende projecten, zoals software-oplossingen voor Linux-gebruikers voor laptops en MID’s, die voor differentiatie t.o.v. de concurrentie moeten zorgen
- Een aantal nieuwe producten in de pijplijn zullen zoals gepland in het derde kwartaal gelanceerd worden en zouden moeten zorgen voor een substantiële omzet en hogere ASP’s in het vierde kwartaal van 2008
- Zoals reeds eerder aangegeven blijven de volumeleveringen groeien kwartaal na kwartaal waarbij de draadloze USB producten meer dan 70% van de volumes uitmaken en waarbij de prijzen beginnen te stabiliseren

Olivier Lefebvre — rich experience in financial and capital markets
Mr. Olivier Lefebvre, 50, was, until recently, member of the NYSE Euronext Inc. management committee, member of Euronext N.V management committee and CEO of the Brussels Stock Exchange. Prior to that, he was advisor and Chief of Staff to the Belgian Minister of Finance, in charge of the reform of the Belgian financial markets. Mr. Lefebvre holds an MBA from Cornell University and a PHD in economics from the Université Catholique de Louvain (UCL). In addition, he is one of the founding members of the Belgian Corporate Governance Committee.
Patrick De Smedt — thorough knowledge of the EMEA high-tech market
Mr. Patrick De Smedt, 53, has built up vast experience in the high-tech industry during his more than 23 years with Microsoft. LEUVEN, Belgium – February 18 2008 - Option (Euronext: OPTI; OTC: OPNVY), the wireless technology company, today announced that it has been selected by Qualcomm to provide complete solutions based on Qualcomm Incorporated’s Gobi™ global mobile internet platform for laptops to OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers) worldwide.
The embedded multi-mode Gobi solution is based on Qualcomm's MDM1000™ chipset, includes associated software and API, and a reference design for a software-defined configurable data module that supports both 3G HSPA and EV-DO Rev. A.
By supporting worldwide 3G standards, laptop manufacturers can produce products with global connectivity capabilities while benefiting from greater efficiencies and a simplified user experience. The Gobi solution also includes GPS functionality.

Drawing on experience gained working with more than a hundred customers, mobile operators and OEMs worldwide, Option will support OEMs to satisfy any certification requirements and customise modules to meet specifications agreed between the OEMs and their operator partners in each local market.

IDF, San Francisco, USA – August 19, 2008 – Option N.V. (EURONEXT Brussels: OPTI; OTC: OPNVY), the wireless technology company, today announced that its embedded wireless modules and Linux-based connection management software have been selected by Compal Electronics (Taiwan: 2324.tw) to provide HSPA 3G connectivity to a new range of Mobile Internet Devices (MIDs). The Compal Group is the world’s second largest original device manufacturer (ODM) - a specialist manufacturer of products on behalf of major brands. The company has a market capitalization of 4 billion US dollar.
“The multi-year agreement represents a key milestone in our initiative to become the leading supplier of 3G wireless broadband connectivity in the emerging market for MIDs,” said Jan Callewaert, CEO Option. “In less than a year, our acquisition of part of the former BenQ/Siemens Mobile R&D resources and our collaboration with Intel have made Option an important partner for ODMs and OEMs within the MID ecosystem.”
Independent analysts forecast that demand for always-connected Mobile Internet Devices could reach 90 million units a year by 2012.
The first Compal product is an MID with integrated multimedia player and retractable keyboard which offers anywhere, anytime access to the internet and popular web-based services such as email, instant messaging and social networks. The device incorporates GPS to enable it to take advantage of innovative location based services and applications. The new MID also includes GlobeTrotter Connect for Linux: connection management software specially developed by Option for Mobile Internet Devices based on the Intel® Centrino® Atom™ processor technology. Option is currently working with Compal to secure certification and operator validation for this device in multiple markets.
Based on Option’s ultra-compact GTM501 wireless module, a Developers Kit has been assembled to enable ODMs to develop 3G connectivity solutions for their mobile internet devices and other portable consumer electronic devices. The Developers Kit is already shipping to ODMs and OEMs. With the GTM501, the GlobeTrotter Connect for Linux and the Developers Kit, Option clearly demonstrates that it is ready to contribute to the success of the new MID category.
Compal’s new MID will feature on the Option booth (N° 412) at IDF, the Intel Developer Forum, in San Francisco (August 19-21) where Option will also be demonstrating GlobeTrotter Connect for Linux and its new GTM501 Developers Kit.

Het eerste product van Compal is een MID met een geïntegreerde multimedia player en uitschuifbaar toetsenbord dat eender waar en wanneer toegang verleent tot het internet en populaire internetdiensten zoals e-mail, instant messaging en sociale netwerken. Leuven, Belgium – July 11, 2008 – Option N.V. (Euronext: OPTI; OTC: OPNVY), the wireless technology company, today announced that although the Company had its highest ever quarterly volume of units shipped, pre-audited preliminary revenues for the second quarter of fiscal year 2008 will be in the range EUR 60-62 million. These revenues combined with EUR 77 million for the first quarter 2008 will generate half year revenue in the range of EUR 137-139 million which is approximately 9% less than the first half year 2007. As a result, the company expects EBIT for the first six months to be negative. The Company had not previously provided guidance for the quarter or the first half of the year.
During the quarter a number of factors affected the indicated revenue and EBIT. The two key issues were continuing price pressure from Asian competitors in Europe and a reduction in sales to two customers versus their preliminary forecasts to the Company.
Option had stated that the second quarter of 2008 would prove difficult as it continued to transition its organization for its rapidly changing market and had to rely on existing products. The company continues to push aggressively through this period of transition identifying cost savings and employing efficiencies to position it for sustainable and profitable growth in 2009.
Option believes that it is well positioned for the second half of the year due to:
-tOption’s balance sheet at the close of Q2 remained strong with more than EUR 30 million in cash, no debt and improved accounts receivable levels
-tA major contract with a MID device manufacturer is on schedule for a Q3 announcement, confirming the value of the investment Option continues to make in this market
-tThe developments with Qualcomm and Intel on embedded modules for the next generation of devices continue to progress well
-tThe company continues to invest into new and ongoing development projects, including software solutions for Linux users for laptops and MID devices, that create differentiation from competitors
-tA number of new products to be launched in Q3 are on schedule and should provide material revenue and higher ASPs in Q4 2008
-tAs stated previously, volume shipments continue to increase quarter on quarter with wireless USB devices accounting for more than 70% of volumes, and prices are beginning to stabilize
-tRevenue generating headcount has been broadened with a new VP North America and strengthened staff, enhanced capabilities in Australia and the South Pacific, and a new VP Distribution which will give access to numerous new and emerging markets without the need for dedicated staff.

(Euronext: OPTI; OTC: OPNVY), specialist in draadloze communicatie, heeft vandaag bekendgemaakt dat – alhoewel het bedrijf op kwartaalbasis een record aantal leveringen van producten realiseerde – de voorlopige, niet-geauditeerde omzet voor het tweede kwartaal 2008 tussen 60 en 62 miljoen euro zal liggen. Samen met de 77 miljoen euro uit het eerste kwartaal 2008 komt dit neer op een omzet over het eerste halfjaar tussen de 137 en 139 miljoen euro, wat ongeveer 9 % lager is dan in het eerste halfjaar van 2007. Het bedrijf verwacht dat hierdoor de EBIT over de eerste zes maanden negatief wordt. Voor dit kwartaal en voor het eerste halfjaar waren eerder geen vooruitzichten bekendgemaakt.
Tijdens dit kwartaal beïnvloedden een aantal factoren de omzet en EBIT. De twee belangrijkste elementen waren de aanhoudende prijsdruk van Aziatische concurrenten op de Europese markt en lagere verkoopcijfers bij twee klanten in vergelijking tot de vooruitzichten die ze aan Option gaven.
Option stelde eerder dat 2008 een moeilijk jaar zou worden omdat het bezig is haar organisatie om te vormen in lijn met de snel evoluerende markt en moest rekenen op bestaande producten. Het bedrijf gaat met de nodige vastberadenheid door deze transitieperiode door verdere kostenbesparingen te identificeren en een verhoogde efficiëntie binnen de organisatie na te streven, om zich zo op te maken voor aanhoudende en winstgevende groei in 2009.
Option gelooft dat het bedrijf sterk staat voor het tweede halfjaar omwille van volgende factoren:
- Aan het einde van het tweede kwartaal blijft de balans sterk, met ruim 30 miljoen euro cash, geen schulden en verbeterde niveaus van de handelsvorderingen
- Een belangrijk contract met een producent van MID’s (Mobile Internet Devices) zit op schema om aangekondigd te worden in het derde kwartaal. Dit bevestigt de waarde van de investeringen die Option in deze markt aan het doen is
-Ontwikkelingen met Qualcomm en Intel voor nieuwe inbouwmodules voor de volgende generatie van producten verlopen vlot
- Het bedrijf blijft investeren in nieuwe en lopende projecten, zoals software-oplossingen voor Linux-gebruikers voor laptops en MID’s, die voor differentiatie t.o.v. de concurrentie moeten zorgen
- Een aantal nieuwe producten in de pijplijn zullen zoals gepland in het derde kwartaal gelanceerd worden en zouden moeten zorgen voor een substantiële omzet en hogere ASP’s in het vierde kwartaal van 2008
- Zoals reeds eerder aangegeven blijven de volumeleveringen groeien kwartaal na kwartaal waarbij de draadloze USB producten meer dan 70% van de volumes uitmaken en waarbij de prijzen beginnen te stabiliseren
- Option heeft haar personeelsbestand dat verantwoordelijk is om omzet te genereren, uitgebreid met een nieuwe Vice President Noord-Amerika en extra mankracht, een ruimere aanwezigheid in Australië en Zuid Azië, en tot slot een nieuwe Vice President Distributie, waardoor er toegang verkregen kan worden tot talrijke nieuwe en groeiende markten via distributiepartners en niet via eigen personeel.
Geauditeerde cijfers voor het tweede kwartaal en het eerste halfjaar 2008 zullen bekendgemaakt worden op 24 juli 2008.

LEUVEN, Belgium – July 2 2008 - Option (Euronext: OPTI; OTC: OPNVY), the wireless technology company, today announced that Mr. Olivier Lefebvre and Mr. Patrick De Smedt have been nominated to join its Board of Directors. Final appointment of the new directors will be subject to vote at the Extraordinary General Meeting of Shareholders on July 29, 2008. Both will act as independent Board members, expanding the Option Board of Directors to eight members.
Olivier Lefebvre — rich experience in financial and capital markets
Mr. Olivier Lefebvre, 50, was, until recently, member of the NYSE Euronext Inc. management committee, member of Euronext N.V management committee and CEO of the Brussels Stock Exchange. Prior to that, he was advisor and Chief of Staff to the Belgian Minister of Finance, in charge of the reform of the Belgian financial markets. Mr. Lefebvre holds an MBA from Cornell University and a PHD in economics from the Université Catholique de Louvain (UCL). In addition, he is one of the founding members of the Belgian Corporate Governance Committee.
Patrick De Smedt — thorough knowledge of the EMEA high-tech market
Mr. Patrick De Smedt, 53, has built up vast experience in the high-tech industry during his more than 23 years with Microsoft. He has been Chairman of Microsoft EMEA since 2003, supporting Microsoft EMEA’s CEO in refining strategic directions and initiatives in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Prior to that, he held several Vice President positions at Microsoft EMEA covering sales, marketing, business development, services for enterprise customers and the relationships with enterprise partners. Before joining Microsoft in 1983, Mr. De Smedt was a software manager for Altos Computer Systems and was responsible for the acquisition and support of software products on Altos hardware for the European market. He started his career at Tymshare as project leader for the Benelux region. He received a Commercial Engineering degree from the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (KUL) where he is Honorary Fellow.

Olivier Lefebvre — rijke ervaring in financiële en kapitaalmarkten
Olivier Lefebvre (50) was tot voor kort lid van het managementcomité van NYSE Euronext Inc., lid van het managementcomité van Euronext N.V. en CEO van de Beurs van Brussel. Daarvoor was hij adviseur en kabinetschef van de Belgische minister van Financiën. In die functie was hij onder meer nauw betrokken bij de hervorming van de Belgische financiële markten. Olivier Lefebvre behaalde een Master in Business Administration aan Cornell University en een doctoraat in de economie aan de Université Catholique de Louvain (UCL). Daarenboven is hij stichtend lid van het Belgische Corporate Governance Comité.
Patrick De Smedt — grondige kennis over hightechmarkten
Patrick De Smedt (53) was meer dan 23 jaar actief bij Microsoft en verwierf er een grondige kennis over de hightechindustrie. Sinds 2003 was hij voorzitter van Microsoft EMEA. In die functie ondersteunde hij de CEO bij het uitstippelen van de strategische koers voor Europa, het Midden-Oosten en Afrika. Daarvoor bekleedde hij verschillende Vice President-functies binnen Microsoft EMEA, onder meer voor verkoop, marketing, business development, diensten voor bedrijfsklanten en partnerrelaties. Voor hij in 1983 aan de slag ging bij Microsoft was Patrick De Smedt softwaremanager bij Altos Computer Systems. Hij was er verantwoordelijk voor de acquisitie en de ondersteuning van softwareproducten op Altos-hardware voor de Europese markt. Hij begon zijn carrière bij Tymshare als projectleider voor de Benelux. Hij behaalde zijn diploma handelsingenieur aan de Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (KUL), waar hij ook Honorary Fellow is.

GlobeTrotter Connect for Linux brings Mobile Internet Devices closer to market acceptance

Option’s new GlobeTrotter Connect software for Linux is based on Moblin, which is focused on encouraging the open source community to develop new Linux-based technologies such as browsers, media players and Internet connection managers for MIDs. Linux is the operating system of choice for MIDs because of its small footprint, fast responsiveness, ease of customization, and low cost.
Supporting all mobile connections

LEUVEN, Belgium – February 18 2008 - Option (Euronext: OPTI; OTC: OPNVY), the wireless technology company, today announced that it has been selected by Qualcomm to provide complete solutions based on Qualcomm Incorporated’s Gobi™ global mobile internet platform for laptops to OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers) worldwide.
The embedded multi-mode Gobi solution is based on Qualcomm's MDM1000™ chipset, includes associated software and API, and a reference design for a software-defined configurable data module that supports both 3G HSPA and EV-DO Rev. A.
By supporting worldwide 3G standards, laptop manufacturers can produce products with global connectivity capabilities while benefiting from greater efficiencies and a simplified user experience. The Gobi solution also includes GPS functionality.
“Providing support for global mobile standards, Gobi-enabled laptop computers unify the most widely-deployed wireless carrier network technologies around the world to deliver global mobile internet,” said Mike Concannon, Vice President of Product Management for Qualcomm CDMA Technologies.

This driver installer can only be used in Windows 7 Mobile Broadband mode. After installation, connection of the Option device can be made through Windows Mobile Broadband instead of using Option connection managers.
Important note: This driver CANNOT be installed on any other Microsoft OS than on the Windows 7.
If you already have installed the GlobeTrotter Connect, this driver package CANNOT be installed on top. This will create a driver conflict.

The articles of association stipulate that the Board of Directors is composed of a minimum of three and a maximum of nine members, who are appointed by the general shareholders meeting for a maximum period of six years. The Board of Directors has to contain at least three independent directors.
The Board of Directors is currently composed of four members, namely: Eric Van Zele (Chairman of the Board of Directors), Raju Dandu, Martine Reynaers and Paul Matthijs.
Eric Van Zele
Mr. Eric Van Zele currently serves as Chairman of Reynaers Aluminium and Crescent NV. He was recently appointed chairman of the E17 network of hospitals and of the Hermes decision committee of The Flemish agency for Innovation and entrepreneurship. He continues to serve as a director of Barco NV. Prior to his current mandates Eric served as president and CEO of Barco NV in Kortrijk from 2009 thru 2016. He served as CEO of Pauwels International (from 2004 thru 2008) and of Telindus nv (2000 thru 2003). Prior to that, he served as Vice President of Raychem Corporation in Menlo park, CA, USA and as Managing Director of Raychem nv in Leuven, Belgium. (1972 thru 1999). He was nominated “Manager of the Year in 2012” and “ICT Personality of 2013”. Eric holds a masters degree in electrical and mechanical engineering from the KUL in Leuven (1972) and postgraduate degrees in management from Stanford University (1992 CA, USA).
Raju Dandu
Mr. Raju S. Dandu is the Founder-Chairman of Danlaw Inc. USA. He is also the Managing Director of Danlaw Technologies India Ltd. He is responsible for strategic planning and corporate management of both companies. Prior to founding Danlaw Inc., he held positions at the University of Iowa hospitals, Ford Motor Company, Dana Corporation and worked as an independent consultant at General Motors. He holds a bachelors’ degree in electronics engineering from Kakinada, India, a masters in electronics from University of Iowa and an MBA from University of Detroit.
Martine Reynaers
In 1980, Martine started her career as Financial Analyst of Technicon in Paris, a subsidiary of the
American Revlon Group.
In 1982, she was appointed Financial Manager of Wexal International Ltd, an aluminium extrusion
company in Enniscorthy, Ireland.
In 1983, she moved to the Reynaers headquarters in Belgium, where she took up the position of
Financial Manager. From 1986 onwards, Martine has been the Managing Director of Reynaers until
June 2021 when she will retire from this position and take on the role of Chair of the Board.
Paul Matthijs
Next to holding several non-executive advisory positions, Paul Matthijs is COO of Vlerick Business School. Prior to this, Paul Matthijs was CEO of Niko until 2019 and held several senior executive positions in R&D, product management and general management in the Medical Imaging and Entertainment division and the Retail and Advertising Venture of Barco. Mr. Matthijs' career at Barco spanned over 30 years. He holds a Master’s degree in Electronic Engineering and an MBA from the Vlerick Business School.
