Leuven – Belgium, March 10 2005 – Option N.V. (Euronext: OPTI, OPIN.BR), the wireless technology company, today announced that product samples of its upcoming HSDPA data cards will be demonstrated live at CeBIT 2005 (Hannover, 10 – 16 March 2005). The HSDPA data cards demonstrations will include end-to-end connections on Nortel and Siemens infrastructure equipment.
The product samples of the HSDPA data cards, branded for leading mobile network operators present at CeBIT, were especially prepared to enable the operators to showcase the potential of HSDPA. The Option HSDPA data card is demonstrated with streaming video and office applications at speeds up to 1.5 Mbps.
HSDPA is a migration technology for the UMTS wireless standard used by leading mobile network operators across Europe, Japan and North America to deliver voice and data services. HSDPA boosts network capacity to carry up to three times as much data traffic and up to twice as many wireless users per cell site compared to today’s UMTS networks. By making more efficient use of the existing network and boosting throughput, HSDPA significantly reduces operating costs while delivering a better end user experience. As such HSDPA will enable faster mobile services like high-resolution interactive gaming, multimedia music tracks, DVD-quality film and video etc.
